The kind of tears I've shed for years
Watching you work to make your dream come true
You've taught me a thing or two

Through the night my eyes were never dry
I saw this actress walk on by
It was so awesome to see your dream in real life
Watching the stage become your life

You've found your purpose
You've known it from the start
I know you'll get there
I know it in my heart

I've watched my princese become a queen
Everyone knows just what I mean
A natural talent
Take a look and lend an ear
I get lost in your happiness
when I listen to them cheer

I'm not alone
You make so many proud
You're the star in the middle of the croud
It's special with you and me
That's the way it was meant to be

I knew from the beginning your star was going to shine
When I heard you sing I thought it every time
You are special, a true diamond in the ruff
Singing and dancing and all that school stuff

I still have plays I need to see
I hope you live way beyond me
Remember me with warmth and love

just know I'll be smiling every time

Author's Note: I've watched my granddaughter for 18 years grow into this beautiful mature young woman who has chased her dream of placing her feet on a Broadway stage. There is no doubt in my mind that she will be there. Lexi is a true natural born talent. From her first plays when she was just a little girl she would always find me in my seat and we would share that moment. Every play she was in we shared that special moment. I just watched her last staring role as a high school senior as Carrie in Carrie the Musical and once again we had our moment.When she walked out for her final bow that place erupted with cheers and applause.
