Writing Despair away

by James Zealy

In a lethargic state
Where energy is sapped
By lack of purpose
There appears a beacon
That slowly stirs stasis
Into a pool of creativity

A booming laugh
A joyful smile
Eyes burning a liquid brown
Talking at a staccato pace
As if the words
cannot come out fast enough

Willing her way
Into an anxious heart
Entangling her energy
Into a spirit in need of hope
For a time I cannot measure

A freedom of words has pierced
A self imposed barricade
Where for the longest time
There was no joy
In doing what gives
Me the most pleasure

Time to start anew
With more purpose than before
Now that the barrier has fallen
I await new thoughts and dreams
Writing the despair away
