All of You and Me

by Thomas K. Hunt

Has it ever crossed your mind?
I know at times it's crossed mine
I get wondering about time
Time loves to play with the mind
It happens all the time
Inside this head of mine
I'm still doing fine
I understand my mind

I've traveled some miles
I know some places
It only takes a smile
to light up faces
Though I've been gone
I've always been here
The nest time you see me
I might shed a tear

I've known all along I've always been here
This is the place I learned about fear
God above and the powers to be
Trying to mold me into how to be me

I learned and accepted some
Not holding back
I was ready to run
I've done very well along my way
The love of family and friends everyday

But, there's a world away from here
Where all they do is live in fear
We see it and we hear
We pray for them and thank God we're here

It's such a shame for all mankind
Lost faces that only live in the mind
Natural death should be the only way
Care for one another until our dying day

We all share the sun and moon
We love to share Sunday afternoons
We love the laughter and smiling faces
It should be the same towards all other races

Out there beyond flight
Out in a distant night
I pray we give up the fight
Work together and protect our world
Make it a home for every boy and girl

Did it ever cross your mind
It runs across mine all the time
We all should live long and free
After all there's just all of you
and me
