Take one Step Forward and Two Steps Back

by Thomas K. Hunt

I took one step forward then two steps back
I wasn't going to fall for that
I've been there before
I've picked the wrong door
I've seen the damaged done
I was almost that one

One learns from their mistakes
A little judgement is what it takes
Have fun along the way
Living to the fullest each and every day

So take one step forward then two steps back
Do it once and you'll get the knack
Everything you do is up to you
and that's a matter of fact

Step out easy with caution to the wind
It all comes down to family and friends
They are life
The way it's suppose to be
A binding love like it was meant to be

So take one step forward then two steps back
Stop right there
You're here and that's a fact
Always in my heart
So clear in my mind
I thank the lord for our time

So take my hand and do what I do
Some of this may not be new
Beleive it or not it's all up to you
I've been known to take a step or two

Don't be bashful
Don't feel out of place
Do what you need
Expand your space
I'll be right here
I've got nothing to do
When you're ready we'll take a step or two

We've come this far like we were meant to be
We've come this far
You've seen what I have seen
Without those times I wouldn't be me
and wouldn't be who I was never meant to be
I looked at you and you could see me
Remember that time?
It's in your memory
We took one step forward then two steps back
Remember the time I hurt my back?
Now and then we do the one and two
When we're looking for something new
We know the passion that can't be denied
The kind you feel deep down inside
Lives everlasting living in the hearts
From so long ago it must have been the start

There was a begining it must come to an end
Let's take one step forward then two back again
