Free of Strife

by Thomas K. Hunt

Imagine living where there was no fear
Where we loved each other year after year
There's no need to take a life
A life free of every strife

It's all different now
We were told and we believed
The only thing to fear was fear itself
Is it me or someone else?

Fear's been winning at this kind of game
It will never be the same
Today will be tomorrow
We're just here to borrow

We need to accept beliefs
Let them have their own
Every living soul has that right
Everyone shares the same light

It all changes when you share your fears
The way we share this world is strange
It's been strange for many years
Always having to re-arrange

I don't mind who or what you believe
Don't you worry about me
We all want something to leave
We need to try it and see

Your life is your own
You have the right to live
Leave your fears at home
There's so much more to give

You have your right
I have mine
It's the oldest right
As old as mankind

There's no reason not to get along
Everyone is right where they belong
We don't need to read a sign
We're all capable of changing our minds

Imagine living in this world with no fear
Where we loved each other year after year
Where there's no need to take a life
A world where all are free of strife
