Squandering

by Deborah Breuer

Faith,
Real faith in an individual,
Faith strong enough
In an individual,
To survive a metamorphosis in a relationship,
Is such a rare entity.
Perhaps more enduring than love could be,
Under most circumstances.
It’s this kind of faith in a person,
That is squandered at such a radically devastating ratio.
Most never know such a faith.

True faith,
The kind that upholds the honor of light,
Even when rejected,
Will stand,
A tenacious fervent deflection,
And still make impact upon he who blindly squanders it.

Let this be testimony,
To the truth,
Spoken on the subject of faithfully believing in an individual,
Through both the light and the dark,
No matter the cost.
And though it may be a faith,
Vastly misunderstood,
It is the conviction of those few faithful,
To shine but a ray,
On those in the dark,
Adamantly, rejecting the light.

There are forces that move in the dark that can not do their work in the light, and forces in the light that can not function in the dark. I like the fleeting moments where these two briefly intersect; the earliest hours of dawn, the slow fall into dusk; the change from one work shift to another. I've known, and continue to know, this Faith in another, and another in me. :)
