the Muse and the Mate

by JJ Johnson

Let's bind our voices harmoniously
Paint the prism in my heart together with your symphony
It's the song of two angels fallen down from grace
Through the ice cold darkness of silent inner-space
Landing on a piano, banging my ivory keys
Thank Heaven I fell gazing into your ebony eyes
Strapping on a slide guitar over my broken wing
I went down plucking on your quivering G string
Playing a hard rock solo on your harmonic spot
Repeating my refrain with guitar licks that just won't stop
When you played the flute so hot my ear drums burned to ash
But when your lips blow on the sax I feel my cymbals crash
You've got my bass string humming deeper than Hell's Bells in sin
Yet still I rise up higher to compose the hymn I long to sing
You're strumming my chords and chanting our fateful tune
As I'm bleeding the last verse in hope your faithful heart will swoon
Let's stay forever in this dulcet feeling you fell in with me
Give birth to our love poetry while we sing in the same key
Reciting the final five letters you crafted so carefully
Collaborating a duet forming the notes that spell out FAMILY
