Five Hours

by Richard Vince

She sleeps in the morning
When the Sun is still below
Her horizon but not mine.

Her morning smile brightens
My afternoon, woven into
So few words, sent across
So many miles.

From new to old, and from
Old to new, love and friendship
Stretch, unbreaking, and then
Contract to bring us together
Momentarily, making irrelevant
Separation in space and time.

My Sun sets as hers is highest,
Guiding me home as it keeps
Her world in full brilliance.

Post meridian, I feel
Closer to her: our days
Seem almost in phase
As the growing darkness
Raises our open hearts.

And when the gloom threatens
To smother me in
Choking despair, she is
The best guide: showing me
The way back with her
Smiling eyes and
Iridescent soul.

Very nice write Richard. I am a grand parent who has recently seen two of our grand children and they are both beautiful to see!
