Butterfly Wings

by JJ Johnson

Did I disturb the world
Enough to notice I'm here?
Did I touch the stream of life
And cause ripples to become waves
That drew lines in the sand along the shore
Did anyone notice my creativity
Before it was erased by another rogue wave
Od did the tide subside and the lines became dried
Permanently scarring the sand with my artistic hand?
The signature of my heartbeat kissing the shoreline
Might someday inspire a soul to conjure deep poems
Then I might be remembered for the lines I impressed
Upon the pages of time where my song echoes in rhyme
Still, will they be read tomorrow or quietly die in eternity?
Will anything I do matter one day after my heart forgets how to beat?
Or will poets recite my verse to celebrate my birth long after I'm dead?
