Naked

by JJ Johnson

Let go of the shadow that won't let go of you
The darkness following you is the past haunting your heart
Darkening the one you have always wanted to be
A specter cloaked in the fog of memories too painful to perceive
That reach through the cracks in your dreams, holding you back
Wrapping you in the sadness and doubt of depression
Convincing you that suicide is a painless release
Instead of the end of all you once believed you'd become
Let go of the ghost that never crossed over after love died
Arise from the ashes that cover your eyes with temptations lies
Suffocating hope under the coals of lost souls
Who pretended to be more than flesh caressing vampires
Hiding pain behind waves of deep seeded pleasure
That now creeps back to your exposed naked surface
When no one is there except the phantoms of fantasy
You called up from the depths of your secret desire
So that no one will know you're completely alone
Stop feeding the gremlins devouring your soul
Free yourself from the prison of low self-esteem
Embrace the hero inside who dreams of possibilities

...right on...applies to me, you, we, us...from the smallest action to the whole machine, intertwined...unfettered exposure reveals the truth that this grand delusion might be worth the wait...at least worth THAT write. Thanks.
