Subsidence

by Anita Mac

I was going to write down
all the words I’ve said
(sofar&thistime),
but they were gone already.

That’s us: The past.
All well and good and gone.

We learn our lessons,
keep their essence
in the back of minds ever falling.

Tomorrow will be tomorrow
and we will keep falling,
or finally slam violently
into an End, hard and unmovable.

Falling is complex, but landing is hard, and extraordinarily simple.
Anyway, I fell for this.
