There is a balance between being
And appearing, watching
The watcher mirroring—
Imprinting then shattering.

Some words are worth repeating—
A Mantra’s mantra by means of defeating
Lifetimes of trying in brief shortcuts
Of breath and utterance.

You are the first of the last
Of many—a community
Of self-awareness where
One is as good as any.

So it might as well be just me
Too. We all know what to do.
Who is that watching us
Anyway? I am not paranoid
Yet. Behind this breathing
Pulsing pushing pull is the eventual
Hedging bet that what’s infinitely us is
Eternal.
