Step Away from the Bomb

by JJ Johnson

Poorly planted ordinary ordnance
Put out like the weekly trash
I feel as though I will explode
Sure as death will steal my life
God's got it in for me while I'm alive
The timer ticks as the yellow bricks
Fall from the road I heard leads to Oz
Behind my steps that never rest
a hole descends in haste
To swallow me in darkness
Because I refuse to drop to my knees
In hypocrisy and praise
It is dangerous to get too close
For I'll drag you down with me
To my final destiny
Where Satan awaits my ghost
Like a door prize for the losers
Who never won in life
Because the deck was stacked
Against us and all our kind
Never was a risk of success
When facing predetermined fate
Branded by his holy hand
Before breaching mother's womb
May as well have been aborted
Instead of forced to dangle from his strings
Until my wooden heart burst into flames
My soul exploded when the ticking stopped
As splinters of hollow shrapnel infect you
With emptiness and silent shadows
Step away
Nothing to see here
I've already detonated
