Ruin

by Alison McKenzie

I am crumbled,
Fallen and mossy.
The duplicity is that
I may still have some
Shelter in me.

A most startling lie.

Do not dwell
In these walls,
For they lost reliability
Before I could walk
And mostly,
Have always been full of
Cracks and betrayal.

Betrayal of self
Exceeding all others.

Little bit of upkeep and some new paint and there is something wonderful in those bones. Nice work well said.
