I Scribble and I Jot

by Thomas K. Hunt

I scribble and I jot
I do it when I'm high a lot
The juices flow, thoughts fill my mind
Now black and white
Laid out in rhyme

I scribble and I jot
Here I go again
I never have a clue
I'm curious to the end
The thoughts that flow
They're easy to express
I never know
Will I even be impressed?

So I scribble and I jot
  Waiting for another line
Something truly memorable
The perfect rhyme within my mind
As they start to flow
Words fill the empty space
They come from deep inside
From a place behind my face

Then I scribble and I jot
I'll go another round
Searching for words
Words that can't be found
They hide behind each other
All lined up in a row
Look the other way
They'll be gone before you know

So I scribble and I jot
I ramble and I run
Searching thoughts in the morning sun
Some come to me
Visions in the light
See, here I go again
Rambling another night

I scribble and I jot
It keeps me on my toes
What's coming next?
I don't even know
Another bit of nonsense
It may just draw a smile
This scribble may just last
I've been at it quite a while

I scribble and I jot
These days I do it a lot
Finding words that love to hide
Pulling them from the other side
I hope you get my point
It's all about this joint
These rides within my mind
Is my way to pass the time

I scribble and I jot
I do it when I'm high a lot
The juices flow
Thoughts fill the mind
Laid out on paper for all to find
They either take it or leave it
It has the same effect
What does that mean?
Does it it even make sense?

I scribble and I jot
I can't seem to stop
They occupies my time
These thoughts inside my mind
Turning time into rhyme

I scribble and I jot
I jot down quite a lot
I can't stop now
I don't know how
It's all I do
Finding words
Especially if they're new
In my dreams they flow the best
Thoughts remembered within my rest

Remember when I started?
I didn't have a clue
I had no idea
That, still holds true
Random jots
All in a row
Do they have a meaning?
I just don't know
I just scribble and I jot
