Maze

by Aaron Blair

There's blood rocketing around the chambers of your heart,
unable to figure a way through the hedge maze that is your body,
with its walls upon walls and pathways twisting toward dead ends.
You are restless from the inside out, the vibrations causing friction,
the friction causing heat, so when I lay my hands on you, it burns.
You are the agent of my destruction.
You are the pill that dissolves slowly on my tongue.
I want you to point yourself at me and pull the trigger.
I want you to write your name on my chest.
I want to wrap my legs around you and squeeze
until the only breath you have left
is what is necessary to tell me how much you need me.

...and then squeeze harder or let up, I can't tell. Ahem.
