Sleight of Mind by V. Blakeall we're really doing here
is taking a finite set of
words,
and rearranging them
until we proclaim it
art.
it doesn't seem
entirely different
from shuffling
a deck of
cards,
and taking credit
for our hand. 08/07/2015 Author's Note: There are 80,658,175,170,943,878,571,660,636,856,403,766,975,289,505,440,883,277,824,000,000,000,000 possible arrangements of a single deck of 52 cards.
It is a near certainty that the order of cards resulting from a random shuffle is unique in the history of the universe. The English language, at my last check, is larger than 52 words. This poem is far less insightful than it tries to sound.

Posted by James Cavet on 08/08/15 at 04:24 AM Yes, but that is exactly art: There may be a finite set of words or pieces to use and you could say that monkey's typing (or a computer program) could eventually do what you've done but intent and emotion set everything apart. Knowing where and why things are created and their context make them that much more meaningful. |

Most people write with a marked deck and hands tied.
Seen one shuffle, seen them all(?) |
Posted by Paul Lastovica on 08/08/15 at 09:21 PM we use the words we know... and the ones we don't? thems the wild cards; a little chaos amidst the order. |
Posted by Anita Mac on 08/20/15 at 02:11 AM Are you renegging on every nice thing you've said about my writing?... Well, that's fair. Seriously, interesting perspective. Something to think about. Or not. I haven't decided where I stand on this just yet. lol |
