My Brother On My Mind

by Tony Whitaker

By the light of day his humor chambered

To fire at fine friends, he never knew a stranger

We, who loved him, and will forever,

He simply strolled by St. Peter to meet his maker.

As his days grew short, his nights were longer.

For the ones he loved, he held on strong for.

But now my brother has been removed.

The winds have changed, he has been renewed.

And someday soon I will face that wind,

And Ronny, will you know me - then?

Will you smile the same, when we laughed as brothers?

As we battled as kids to the bitter end

But our brotherly love always did transcend

Well it won't be long 'till I see you again,

Just remember I'm the oldest so put out your hand ,

So I may walk with you, through the Promised Land?

Author's Note: To the memory of my late brother. We were the best of friends when we were young. But we found even more love in our own family's song!
