What I Am

by James Zealy

After a lifetime of roles split
Acting others expectations
Apologies no longer stain my lips
As I walk a path I was given

What I am is accepted or not
There is little I can do
To alter views begot
From baseless opinions spewed

With little or no thought
What I am is not complex
Others perceptions mean naught
My life is no ones conjecture

There are no negotiated terms
I am exposed for all to see
Love me for who I have become
There is no ambiguity

There is peace in my heart
Released from personal fears
Of others sarcastic snark
That no longer evoke tears
