suicide seesaw

by Vivienne Grant

who’s to blame

when
the pills
work

or the sea
has the last embrace

or
the chair’s tipped
over
and
my legs are too short
and
my arms too tired
to undo the rope

who’s to blame

the uncaring boyfriend (I’m not your keeper …)

the demands
of
a job

mountains
of debt

genetics

oblivious boyfriend (I won’t be out long …)

busy friends

empty nest

does it matter

in

the

end
