Gather Me

by Wendy Sparling

I gaze into your midnight dreams
watching you remember me,
I gather you like flowers
holding you close, you see.

I am here my sweet lover
kissing your dampened cheek,
I will sing you a lullaby
until your eyes do not peek.

Hold me close to your heart
where I can surround your love,
gather me like flowers,
an armful of foxglove.

You fill my body with laughter,
humbling my turbulent heart
our bond is like no other,
I wish we weren’t apart.

Your essence floods my body,
kissing from the inside out,
making you my sweet lover,
my whole life throughout.

You gather me like flowers,
a succulent bouquet,
Fragrant and poignant,
you take my breath away.

This poem is for you,
and for you alone
gather me like flowers;
I give you this poem.
