You painted "forever" on the stern then turned your back on me

by Jolie Jordan

Belly up, I floated
your waves held me like a buoy
I bathed into your arms

Fast forward -- I'm sinking
I'm soaked in you, I drown.

My soul quickly claims captain
and I yell out for a savior,
but from the shore
you stand on

My boat breaks from the pressure
and slowly slips right under

Silence, until it dawns,

I can't bob like a bottle-
I can't swim like a fish that is free

My heart is a burden
you buried deep into the sea.
