The Old Ways

by Alison McKenzie

Grandmother,
Where have you gone
That I can no longer lay at your feet,
Listen to the ancient lore
Of your wisdom?

How will I learn the way
To walk upon our Mother
To honor her, to hold humanity
In the old, sacred way
That allows for healing?

I don't remember the songs,
The ceremonies unlearned.

I am lost, Grandmother.

Please come for me.

My soul is gasping.

A solemn lament of lost values. Poignant.
