Second Chance

by Jeffrey Parren

I used to be a romantic
trying to think of ways
to show my love.

I used to be onward looking
a future I couldn't wait
to be immersed in living.

I used to be naive, innocent,
but my eyes were opened
to the pitfalls of full disclosure.

I also used to think
I could never get these things back,
not until my heart healed,

and was jump-started
at just the right time,
by just the right person.

I never thought my heart and mind
would be given a second chance,
but perhaps now is that time, with you.

Love, and can very much relate to, 'the pitfalls of full disclosure.' In answer to your comment question: I hope so :)
