Brilliant Confessions

by Matthew Zangen

Like an obsession in orange
I blazed
backwards into limelight,
an incandescent bastard burning
obscenities on fluorescent
bathroom ceilings.

I have bartered life in hours,
blending stars
in couch creases,
borrowing demands from clocks
spinning lists of quieted causes,
marching drums like alibis
rolling into deepest skin.

If there are confessions
lighting the earth
I bore
none of them
blazing
backwards into darkness.
