My Serenity

by Ryan M Evon

You fixed me, but I'm shattered
Your kiss relit long gone embers
I knew it would hurt soon after
But I needed your warmth

I wish I had stayed away
Because now I burn alone
This fire is for you,
but it is now consuming me

You are what I want, but can't have
The piece I have been missing
I gave up trying to fit others in the hole

You are the piece, my hope for peace
My serenity, but not mine at all
Even if I had you, I could never hold on

Are we too different?
You spread love, warm people
I horde all my affection
like I'm going to run out

We can't be and that makes everything,
Every little bit I have, ache with fire

A sad, sad commentary on a relationship that cannot be.
