Not Now by Susan Q TomasI saw it driving home from work
The perfect house for my husband and me.
Small, in a nice area, with a big garage.
Enough land to build a rental house.
On the same day, the mortgage lender called.
Ding letters from potential employers.
Not now.
What I saw was not the house we would buy.
To hope for something you see is not hope.
Hope for what is unseen.
Whatever my plans are, Adonai’s plans are better.
It was a glimpse of what it would be like.
But not exactly what will come.
“Trust Jesus” spray painted on overpasses
remind me to appreciate what I have.
What I want? Not now.
No one said “Not ever” nor “No.”
Just “Not now.”
