Off The Chain

by Jody Pratt

You can talk to me about how it makes you feel,
even if you feel like you can’t;
and I don’t care how you look when you cry,
you don’t have to be alone, and I mean that.
I said I would be here for you, no matter what we do,
how much we’re screwed up or come unglued.
You can be mean; you can be rude, or uncouth
and you know, that I know, you don’t mean too.
There’s tough shit that we go through, in life,
it isn’t always nice - but I’ll be nice to you.
Each day, no pressure, go with the flow
and never let you go,
cause we’re spinning so fast – you’ll tornado.

I don’t mean to boast but we,
you and me, are crazier than most.
Our picture’s scary, but we’re fucking funny.
Empty, is something that we’ll never be.
It’s too cliché and dated to say you complete me,
but I sincerely care about you, and that’s enough see;
because love isn’t some guide we follow,
another’s footsteps or a pill to swallow;
hollow words in our esophagus’s which wallow
or promises of what will come tomorrow.

Love is actions taken on the daily,
like giving that hug that you’ve been craving.
I’m cleaning all the nooks and crannies when I’m bathing
because I want to be squeaky clean when we’re misbehaving.
Tickling and snuggling, rubbin’ your hair in my face,
but it’s not all physical - I should remind you just in case.
We were friends first who poked fun and talked dumb,
shared problems and joked about a thousand condoms.
We could say anything without a second thought,
and still can, because we’re not friends off.
We’re not benefits either, we’re better than that, just getting grips,
on this weird new relationship.
We have nicknames for our inappropriateness;
you’re off the chain, I’m off the toilet.
There’s something wrong with us,
but there’s nothing wrong with it;
I’m the shit-show and you’ll be wrecking ballin’ shit.

Chill we got this; a couple misfits, in each other’s outfits,
unfit for public, but it’s cool brah, just roll with it,
and just know that; every moment
will be better than the last, the future brighter than the past,
and those that disagree, about me and you,
are going through a train wreck full of
rocket fuel to get their point through; believe it.
