pulling off that emerald polish

after wearing the one perfect matching outfit

there is something that clings to one differently

about the sirens, the shelters

the anguish the stricken women

in brightly colored headscarves

the men sobbing and pointing

at that which on tv is not shown

~

that guy looks like someone i just saw

walking down the street, that one

looks like her babysitter

and the child looks like

all children everywhere

and now so belongs

~

middle class people running

down paved streets

to the shelters, no bigger

than elevators and alarm darom

just went off on facebook

five times as i write this

~

there is a connection

there is a jewish connection

there is a war connection

there is a human connection

~

the world so very small
