feelings in the technological age: The Sequel

by Jared Fladeland

My life has become
a series of switching between tabs,
scrolling between apps,
toggling back and forth between e-mails,
charging my phone because it will die
the one-hundredth-death-today waltz.

Where is the poetry in this?
Where is the rhythm?
Where is God?

I have to remind myself to look up
at the miracles around me,
I need to see the familiar lines of a face
whom I've acquainted myself with for three decades
in the mirror.
I need to seek life

Instead of reading about it on my daily blog.
