The Nod by Richard VinceIt’s all good until we try to
Go from fantasy to reality;
Until we find that what we get
Is not quite what we were
Promised.
Here we are again: finding
Unexpected problems that
Should have been solved
Months ago, and having to
Make do with hollow assurances.
In some ways I admire
The optimism in the face of
What has gone before, but
I also feel pity and
A sense of inevitability.
What an optimist I once was...
Eyes open and gazing skywards
Before my soul was crushed
Under the weight of
Responsibility.
Too much to do, and
Not enough hours.
I no longer have the time
To be positive.
