1. In Dreams

by Uriel Tovar

It comes to me in dreams
Appearing before me
As a massive spire
Too high to see the top
Its body dark and brawn
Shadowy and dark as sin
Standing in the foreground of that damned city
Glowing green
Humming dirges to those
Monuments which it housed
And I dumbstruck
Hesitant to move
Keeping only sweat and
A deafening silent scream back
In front of that hideous
Grotesque being which I cannot name
And just as he steps forward I awaken
To pools of sweat and shredded sheets
And that horrible, horrible image
Engraved in me.

Reoccurring nightmares can be most troublesome. You put us in the nightmare!
