for some
by Peter HumphreysI was shocked
it was warm
so very warm
after the blistering winds
scouring all before
a't head of the glen
the promenade
was sprinkled
with baby buggies
old people
with their sticks
young people
jogging mechanically
I ambled along
dispersing the crows
rooks and ravens
down from the wind
seeking scraps
my eyes fell upon
a solitary figure
now sitting on the wall
had the tide been in
I would have worried
but she was hours
safe hours alone
I said, 'good day?'
her eyes rose
her deep brown
no
ebony eyes
glanced at me
reluctantly
I smiled and said
'It's a good day'
' ... for some'
she said
for some
