Waiting for the Dawn

by Joe Cramer

I wait for you and you never come,
remaining forever fraught, undone
as to what will happen with morning sun.
Waiting for the dawn was not something
I have ever intended to do.
I long for your touch upon my skin
the feel of warm rays rising in the sky.
False dawn appears, and I fear
the sun's rise will never greet me.
I wait for you and you never come.
