The Price of a Dream

by Carol Grant

A little boy
As a famous
Ball player
His legs bound
By braces

A little girl
In a pair of
Ballet shoes
Her home the
Mean streets
Of America

A widower or
Widow with their
Thoughts of a
Loved one gone
In a home
That is not
Their own

A teenage boy
As an attorney,
Bricklayer,doctor
When in an ally
Is found with a
Needle in his arm

A teenage girl as
A news reporter
Nurse or teacher
In her arms she
Holds her new
Born baby

In today's world
Where do we go
To pay for the
Price of a dream
