Maybe Two

by Thomas K. Hunt

I was gone for a minute
It might have been two
It seemed like a minute
Did it seem that long to you?
I've drifted before
I've left this place
My mind disappears
You can see it on my face
It's what I do
It's not up to you
I get lost for a minute
Or maybe two
I just lose my mind
Only for a short time
I go to black
I come right back
You've seen it before
I've kissed the street
My face on your floor
See the soles of my feet
It happens every once and a while
Nothing I can do
It's just my style
I was gone for a minute
It might have been two
It seemed like a minute
That’s nothing new
I started these trips
When I first took a stand
I've lived the time
I know it first hand
It just happens
It's a surprise to me
I'll be back in a couple
Maybe shorter, you'll see
I've lost minutes
They drifted with time
Lost in the black holes of my mind
When I go black
Somewhere of track
Just for a minute or two
If you see me go down
If I don't make a sound
Please, there's nothing you can do
I'll hold that hit for as long as I can
When I hit the floor, you'll understand
There's nothing you can do
It's not up to you
I'll be back in a minute
Maybe two

The momentum in this is flawlessly constructed. Awesome read.
