I Dream Of Light

by Jared Orlando

I dream of collecting every source of light
Sucking it in, gathering it and harvesting it
Wrapping around the universe
I’d drain every star, galaxy, nebula,
Sinking my teeth in and letting it drip out
Into tentacles, veins of golden luminance
Every lamp, lantern, streetlight,
Lightening bolt, lightening bug, lightbulb,
Projection lamp, light emitting diode,
Concentrated beams and beacons
Warming me as they enter me
Illuminating my mouth, esophagus
Until my stomach erupts
I’d become the sun
Something larger than my body can hold
I’d lift, weightless
Exploding in the atmosphere
Ever searching an importance in the light
The one that I’d become, and not find
