At the Beach

by Uriel Tovar

Sizzling
In the summer heat
We twist and fry
On sandy grains
Digging up our cracking
Skin

With eyes wide open
We consume the sun
Solar flares rushing through
Our veins
Expelled through our oh shaped
Mouths
Hands clutched in ecstasy
Our body is dried out
And left to shrivel
Until the high tide pulls us
Out to sea.
