OUTSIDE by W. Mahlon PurdinWhen your feet touch the ground
It adds a level of knowing
That just can't be visualized.
It's subtle, you just know it.
Inside, this doesn't work.
Those frames and joyces,
Those windows and walls,
They all deaden all the way.
Inside everything is quiet.
Outside everything is alive
You can feel it even when
You don't know it.
Walking through the neighborhood
Is much different than driving.
Somehow you are part of things.
Less apart and intruder.
More like tree than salesman.
More like the sky than voter.
Outside, your feet
Are more like paws. 12/25/2012 Posted on 04/14/2013 Copyright © 2026 W. Mahlon Purdin
