That's What I Get

life is what you make of it.
Duh.
My biggest issues
are the past and the future.
They can never
get out of my head.
Stuck thinking about a past
that never lived up
to what I envisioned
the future could possibly be.
The world stops for no one.
Of this I know for sure.
Life is happening
all around me
and here I am, alone.
Nothing clicks. Nothing.
I wake up.
I go to work.
I come home.
In doing just enough to survive,
I've forgotten about living.
