stretch and breathe by Kerowyn Roselike someone’s
foot pressing
down
on my heart,
sadness sits
on my chest.
its gripping
tentacles
fill my throat;
pushing tears
behind my eyes.
I stretch and breathe,
stretch and breathe,
hoping to break free.
struggling hard -
determined to lift
the pressure,
but each and every
movement brings
more suffocation.
I pray for freedom
from this vice clamp
on my inner light.
so I stretch and breathe,
stretch and breathe,
hoping to break free.
I could drown it
with alcohol,
medicate it
with pills,
stop believing
I will ever hear
your voice again.
instead I
stretch and breathe,
stretch and breathe,
hoping to break free.
because torture
of tortures
I will always
believe this
is not the end
of this life’s
journey.
deep inhale -
stretch and breathe,
stretch and breathe,
hoping to break free
from this frustration
of a hideous dream. 02/01/2013 Posted on 02/01/2013 Copyright © 2024 Kerowyn Rose
