She Runs Home

by Joe Cramer

she runs home,
even before her date
not wanting to
withdraw
from the cocoon
that eventually envelopes
her being
into nothingness

she cannot leave,
she must cleave
and cannot dance,
talking too much,
always so lonely

always so very lonely
within the depth of her mind

I find
that she is only interested
in the maintenance of her status quo

there is nothing else that she knows

even the uncertainty
leaves her so emotional
that she can't move

so she runs home

G-d Joe- you nailed this one! As someone whose "best friend"/worst enemy" is severe anxiety- it truely can paralyse you. I am agoraphbic- I know the feeling well. You did a great job on this piece. I hope your friend loves it!
