for my dead aunt by Artur Desruisseauxfor my dead aunt
my aunt died in 1985 or 1986
I can't remember
she was nice
she drank and smoked and died from cancer
at age 47 or 46
I can't remember
but one thing I can remember was that she was nice
and had all these husbands and boyfriends
and I had a cousin
who was always in and out of jail
and sometimes I would go visit her
in this little mobile trailer home in Los Angeles
she would always feed me these little dead vienna sausages
little dead wieners
maybe she figured I liked them
or maybe that's all she had
it was our special bonding
I would be dropped off at the little mobile home in Los Angeles
and I would eat wieners and listen to record lps
and she would smoke cigarettes and drink vodka from a glass
and we would laugh
and then she died
and they had some dumb Russian funeral
and those are the worst
you have to sit on your knees in some dumb church
with hard wood floors that are older than dirt
singing songs that you don't know how to sing
while men with stupid beards and women with stupid things on their heads cry
and all you want to do is get the hell out of there quick
but my aunt was nice
and my cousin was in and out of jail for drugs
and you used to eat those little dead vienna sausages
in a little tin can
and it was some mobile trailer home in Los Angeles
that is probably not there anymore
