In the time of the new year,
comes those moments
when it's time
to clean out closets,
and all of the angst accumulated there.

Time to work on that novel
I keep playing around with.
Time to publish all of these poems
that keep growing in so many folders,
that never seem to go anywhere.

It's that time to reflect on what travels
and travails will present themselves
in the new year, leaving behind the past.
I don't make resolutions,
those institutions
were never part of who I am.

Now comes the time to closely hold
the ones I love, yes, that means you,
and to find more love, anew.
As the time flies, I wonder
how much time I have left,
will this year be all mine?

To make time in the present,
without dwelling on the past
is all that I could want or even ask.
