A Letter To Me

by Joan Serratelli

I am a competent human being
I can do MOST hings for yourself
if I can't;
I will ask for help
Do not assume because
I look different
there is something
definitely wrong with me

I know that
I would be very stupid
not to know this

I have, most of my life
wanted desperately to fit in
I do fit in
I fit in MY own private world

I have friends
who are fellow suffers
and though I'll probably never
meet these people for "real"
it is a comfort to me
that they exist

I am not alone
there are others
like me

They are my support
system
They live all over
the map

But these people
are there when I need them

I can't say the same thing
about many "real" people
in my life

...joan, well said; and too, it is a human delimma; my made-up world is always smiling at me; my real one doesn't. such is this life.
