i would have thought
that the 3000 miles
between us might
have been sufficient

but it seems that in
your emails and the
information you
provide or don’t

you are keeping me
at arms length
as if you read
somewhere between

the lines of my emails
feelings that somehow
find their way across
those 3000 miles

and ask a question
that you prefer
not to answer

Wow. You really start out with a big slam in the first stanza. I guess a lot of us have people we prefer to keep at a distance emotionally/physically. I like how you show your persistance and vulnerability in the last two stanzas. Takes a lot of courage to keep on keeping on at a distance.

mm. yes. i remember being open and wondering why my openness wasn't reflected from such a safe distance. :) i suppose, for some people, 3000 miles just isn't enough.
