what it's come to be

by Charlie Morgan

as Piscine become pissing so goes the teenage years;
we, over time, become something we're not;
ever-trying to become something we want to be.
poets say 'alas', hang their head in a lament,
repeating, is this what it's come to be?.

we watch T.V. to see how to behave and the channel
is defaulted to Jackass;
our interactions become reactions to scripts,
written by somebody else.

if it sat in your face and wiggled
would you know authenticity?

it is a long word so a little effort
will be fully needed and then again,
you have to learn a new word.

but whatever you do don't be authentic.
settle for simple for subjects, verbs;
please don't seek color in you words.

Magazines started setting the standards during the late forties and before. Every needed a car, then a house. After that the house needed to be filled with kids then things, stoves, wsshers, radios, and most importantly we had to keep up with the next door neighbors whose name of course was Jones. We all fell for it and after we had all our things they made newer ones, faster ones, different colors, etc. No one watched the population grow to 7 with so many zeroes behind it we didn't know what it meant. Good write Charlie.

I don't like much tv. I do not even pretend to know how to use a remote. A precious few (usually weird) shows hold my . I write most poems during "Good Morning America". I am told I am too lazy to find a descent show to watch. Try: I'm just not interested. Great write as always
