Customer Service

by Richard Vince

To the girl with prominent ears
And overly staid clothing, I wish
I had expressed my gladness for
Her presence in that
Unpleasantly angular building.

For now she has moved on to
The next stop on the retail
Roundabout, and the opportunity
Has passed before I really
Knew it was there.

How would I have put it if
Somehow I had managed to
Form the words? Would I have
Put it simply, or would my need
For clarity and certainty have
Killed any conciseness?

Wherever she is now, I hope that
Someone tells her she is beautiful
Every day, and that the most
Important thing to wear is
A smile.

A story that makes me want more details. That's how good this piece is at bringing me into the subject matter. Awesome.

...intrigueing. great wonderment of another biped; maybe another member of our lonely heart's club band.
