Dressed in Moonlight, Covered in Skin

by Megan Guimbellot

When I think of you/ and I think of you often// I see you in the night
Outside
With the moonlight settled on your shoulders
Glowing inside your skin// dripping from your hair.
Your breath rising/ smoke signals
calling for me
always and only for me.

Please tell me again about this light catching my eyes// clinging to my lips
like whispers some time after midnight/
And I'll tell you that you are my favorite season on repeat.
You travel the spectrum and shed your skin/ to burst into bloom when morning comes calling
Reinventing yourself in a breath, a sigh in December
this winter's wind.

And without trying
or wanting to
I believe in you
because things that die will always live again.
One way or another
Autumn.
Spring.

I love that ending. Wraps it up beautifully.
