Dear World.

by Angie Jenkins

It’s comforting to know that
Despite my lack of finger pointing
At those that held me back
I can still yell and scream and
Punch my defiant fist in the air;
For once, I did not sit and
Settle and
Accept what life gave me;
I pushed, despite your adversity and
Your constant insistence that I should
take what you gave me
And never look back
Or ahead to any other chances
I could have at happiness.
So, world, I can say with a confident smile and gracious
Wave of my hand....
Fuck you.
I got what I wanted.

And what exactly is it that you got?? I am not your enemy I just want to know you, not your name, not the color of your hair or eyes, but what you 'think' and what you do. For that is who you are. So, I start by reading your poems.
